This notice explains what happens to your information when you use the Seisin application and this website. In short, the application stores your data on your own computer and this website does not track you. The detail below is there so that you do not have to take that on trust.
Seisin is made and operated by Abdelrahman Sheibani, an individual based in Portugal, who is the data controller for the limited processing described in this notice. You can reach him at [email protected].
Everything you put into the application, including applications, offers, interview
notes, resumes and settings, is stored on your own device, on Windows under
AppData\Local\Seisin. There is no account and no sign-in. That
information is never transmitted to the controller or to anyone else, and it is
not processed by us in any way, because we never receive it.
Files you import are read on your own machine. That covers a CV brought in as a PDF or Word document, and a spreadsheet of past applications brought in as CSV or Excel. Nothing is uploaded in order to be read, and the analysis the application performs on a CV runs entirely on your device. The same is true in the other direction: exports, backups and calendar files are written straight to a location you choose.
An optional account with cloud synchronisation is planned for a future version. It will be optional. Using Seisin entirely locally will remain supported, nothing will be uploaded without your choosing it, and this notice will be updated before any such change takes effect.
The application never transmits your applications, offers, interview notes, resumes or salary information. There are exactly three occasions on which it makes a network request, and none of them carries information about you.
As with any internet request, the party on the receiving end, meaning GitHub, the job advertisement's website, or the European Central Bank, will see your IP address and may record it in its own server logs under its own privacy policy. We do not receive that information. All three requests are avoidable: the launch check can be disabled in Settings, job details can be entered by hand, and exchange rates can be edited manually.
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers, and contains no forms. We do not collect personal data through it.
The site stores one item on your device: your choice of light or dark appearance, saved in your browser's local storage so the page does not change theme every time you visit. It is set only as a result of a preference you express, it never leaves your browser, and it is used for no other purpose. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as a processor on our behalf and, in the ordinary course of serving and protecting the site, processes technical connection data including IP addresses. Cloudflare is established in the United States, so this processing may involve a transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area, carried out under the safeguards Cloudflare provides for such transfers, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Cloudflare's own privacy documentation describes its retention of that data; we do not access, query or retain those logs ourselves.
The only processing carried out for us is the technical connection data described above, and our legal basis for it is our legitimate interest, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, in serving the website securely and keeping it available. We hold no database of users, we keep no mailing list, and we retain no personal data of our own, so there is nothing for us to delete on a schedule. If you write to the support address, we keep that correspondence only for as long as it takes to deal with your message.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because the application keeps your data on your own device, and because this site collects nothing, there is in practice almost nothing for us to act on: your data is already in your possession, and you can export, back up or delete it from within the application at any time. You may nonetheless exercise these rights in relation to any correspondence you have sent us, or any data processed on our behalf by our host, by writing to the address below.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD). If you are in another country of the European Economic Area or in the United Kingdom, you may complain to your own national authority instead.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or any other commercial purpose. We have never done so and there is no mechanism in Seisin by which we could.
If what Seisin does with data changes, this page will be updated before the change reaches you, and the date at the top will be revised. Material changes, in particular the introduction of optional accounts and cloud synchronisation, will be described here in plain terms rather than absorbed quietly into the text.
