Seisin for universities
Seisin is a desktop application that helps students and graduates organise their job search. This page sets out what the application provides, how it handles personal data and how it is made available, for universities and their careers services.
Overview
A single record of a student's job search
Applying for internships, placements and graduate roles usually involves many applications over several months, each with its own deadline, documents and interview stages. Seisin gives each application a single record that holds this information in one place, and uses those records to show the student how their search is progressing.

What students can do
The application, feature by feature
All of the features below are included in the free version.

- Application tracking
- Each application is recorded with its status, closing date, source and notes. Roles a student intends to apply for are kept in a separate list, ordered by closing date.
- Calendar
- Closing dates and interviews are shown together in one calendar.
- Interview preparation
- Each interview round and its outcome is logged against the application, alongside company research and a personal question bank for answers in the STAR format.
- CVs and cover letters
- Students can write CVs and cover letters in the application and export them as PDF or Word documents. Each application records which CV was used.
- Professional network
- Contacts and referrals are recorded against the organisations a student is applying to.
- Analytics
- Response rates by source, the stage at which applications stop progressing, and a side-by-side comparison of offers.
- Export
- All records can be exported to CSV or Excel at any time.
How it supports students
What students gain
- An accurate record
- With every application in one place, students are less likely to miss a closing date or lose track of which documents they sent to which employer.
- A clearer view of progress
- Because the analysis is drawn from the student's own records, it shows where their applications are progressing and where they are not, which can inform how they adjust their approach.
- Preparation kept in context
- Interview notes, research and practice answers are stored with the application they relate to.
- Continuity beyond graduation
- A student's records remain with them from their first internship applications through to graduate roles, independently of any institution's systems.

Data protection
Personal data stays on the user's device
Seisin does not operate user accounts and does not hold student data on any server. Information entered in the application is stored in a local database on the user's own computer, and no personal data or job-search content is transmitted to Seisin. Recommending Seisin to students therefore does not involve sharing student data with Seisin.
Network activity full detail in the privacy policy
- Update check
- On launch, the application checks GitHub for new versions. No personal data is sent, and the check can be switched off in Settings.
- On request only
- Reading a job posting from a link the user provides, and refreshing currency exchange rates.
Accessibility and support
Accessibility, releases and support
- Accessibility
- Seisin's approach to accessibility, and its known limitations, are set out in the accessibility statement.
- Releases
- Each release is published on GitHub with release notes and a checksum for every installer. The application can notify users when an update is available.
- Installation on Windows
- The Windows installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows may display a SmartScreen notice the first time it is run. Code signing is planned.
- Support
- Questions from students and staff can be sent to [email protected].
Availability
Free and premium versions
The features described on this page are available free of charge. The free version applies monthly limits to some exports and to new contacts, which are set out within the application.
A premium version is planned for November to December 2026. It is planned to add further analysis, including the comparison of a CV against a job description, as an addition to the free version.
For universities, Seisin intends to offer an institutional licence, under which students and staff would access premium features by signing in with their university account. Institutions interested in this, or in making Seisin known to their students in the meantime, are welcome to get in touch.
